Congratulations to Teresa Anger

Teresa was born and raised in the Darwell area. At
an early age, she followed her parent’s example and began volunteering
in the community. Darwell Fair was always a big event and Teresa was
always there helping set up the hall and prepare the grounds. Fair day
found her entering cooking and sewing items in the hall as well as
participating in the livestock (horse, sheep & cattle) events.
After graduation, Teresa moved to Edmonton to work
where she met and married Allan Anger. Together they moved back to the
Darwell area, started a small farming operation and raised their 3 sons.
These were busy days with the boys on local hockey teams in winter and
playing ball all summer.
Teresa looked after the farm, coached ball,
volunteered at bingo and still found time to join the Fair Board. Many
hours were spent preparing the grounds and running the horse show on
fair day. She remembers well, pitching a tent trailer with her 3 small
boys at 5:00 in the morning to take horse entries then risking her life
being a post marker for the potato race! Following fair day there was no
time to rest. The rush was on to organize the banquet and put all the
prize money in envelopes for the following Saturday night.. As
Treasurer, Teresa was kept on the run! In 1998, Teresa moved to an
acreage in the Spruce Grove area where she still resides. Fair weekend
still finds Teresa participating in the fair and watching her boys and
the Lewis family participating in the Slo Pitch Tournament. She does not
remember ever missing a fair day. The fair has grown from a small one
day affair to a 3 day weekend event which now includes tractor pull
competitions and a Barn Burner evening. The success of the Darwell fair
is attributed to the hard working and dedicated volunteers in the area.
Teresa has been a major contributor to the community for many years!
